Red Light, Green Light - Animated Short Film (2023)
This project was made during GIGAJAM 2022 which is a 36-hour creative competition hosted by the A&M chapter of ACM SIGGRAPH.
Creating Catfish - Character Design
Initially for "Under the Sea" as our prompt for Gigajam 2022, we wanted to work off of a pun. I thought of Catfish and Angler fish and thought it'd be cool to mix the two together. Under water intities are also much scarier the further down the ocean one is, so working off of a Angler fish was perfect.
Creating Catfish - Animation / Color
To save time in editing, I wanted to experiment on using a non-animated texture on Catfish. Similar to the show Chowder, only the character is animated whereas the texture on them remains constant, excluding the white markings, eyes, and fins. All of the coloring was done on Procreate.
Creating Catfish - Shading
To finish off this project I shaded the cat and lighted the antennae on it to interact with it as he's animated as well. Background images and animation by Anthony Juarez.
